Safe Space Policy
We are a civilian martial art focused on preparing individuals for real-life assault situations across a range of threat levels and contexts. We recognise that every student comes to training with their own background, experiences, fears, and, in some cases, past trauma.
Because of this, our school is committed to providing a training environment that is safe, respectful, and supportive, while remaining realistic and effective. We acknowledge that certain drills, scenarios, or training methods may be uncomfortable or distressing for some individuals.
Any student may approach an instructor confidentially to raise concerns about a specific drill, scenario, or training partner. All concerns will be taken seriously and addressed without judgment, embarrassment, or negative consequence. Where appropriate, instructors will work with the student to adjust the activity, provide an alternative option, or agree a progression that allows the student to train at their own pace.
If a student feels more comfortable raising a concern with someone else, other school leaders may also be contacted via the association website.
This policy applies equally to all members. No individual will be required to participate in training that causes them undue discomfort, and all concerns will be handled with respect, discretion, and professionalism.
Summary
We train for real-life situations and recognise that everyone brings different backgrounds and experiences to training. If you prefer to raise a concern with someone else, other school leaders can be contacted through the association website.
